  1.                              MultiUser Chat Help

  4.        The Multiuser chat feature of Mach-10 is a very useful and
  5. entartaining service. On multinode systems you will be allowed to
  6. talk to many users at once. Although multiuser chat is a straight-
  7. forward system, it can be confusing to new suers. This document will
  8. attempt to outline the basics required to use the multiuser chat
  9. effectively.

  12.    I. How to find somebody to chat with
  13.  
  14.             If you are going to use the multiuser chat feature, you
  15.        will obviously need have at least one more user present to
  16.        talk to. Another user may be downloading a file, reading
  17.        messages, etc and not be able to chat with you!
  18.             The first thing you should do is access the "/USERS"
  19.        function which will inform you who (if anyone) else is
  20.        on the system. It will also tell you what they are doing
  21.        and if they are in chat, what channel.
  22.             If the /USERS option reports that somebody else is
  23.        currently in chat with you, then you're all set. Just type
  24.        away and you can get into a conversation with them.
  25.             If users are listed but are currently doing something
  26.        else (like reading messages), you will need to page them
  27.        to enter chat. This process is describied in the following
  28.        section.

  30.   II. Paging other users
  31.  
  32.             If you wish to talk to another user who isn't already
  33.        in chat, you will have to PAGE them. Paging will send a
  34.        little message over to the other user informing him/her that
  35.        you are in chat and wish them to join you.
  36.             Users may receive pages in only two places - at
  37.        MENU prompts or at the READ-MESSAGE prompt. If you page
  38.        them while they are engaged in another activity, the page
  39.        will be received when they return to the menu.

  41.  III. Typing to other users
  42.  
  43.             If you wish to type to the other users in chat, all you
  44.        have to do is type what you want to send and press <return>
  45.        to send it.
  46.             If another user sends text while you are in the process
  47.        of typing, your entry will be moved down one line and the
  48.        other users' message will be displayed.

  50.   IV. Switching Channels
  51.  
  52.             If you wish to switch to another channel, you may do
  53.        so by using the switch-channel option. In a private channel,
  54.        only people in that channel can receive text that you
  55.        type.
